SV: You walked for Roberto Cavalli this week in Milan, which other shows did you book?
Jules: Etro, Vivienne Westwood and Ermanno Scervino.
SV: Will you be in New York for castings and shows this coming season?
Jules: Nope NY is home so I am busy on the photo hustle…
SV: You tweeted “curbed the herb….watchout world” I’ve often wondered how you’re always able to smoke weed and still be proactive enough to get shit done, they seem to cancel each other out, no?
Jules: Not for me! I was always very productive but curbing the herb feels great!
SV: If we were to sit down and share a joint in the hotel, what would the playlist be called?
Jules: I have a hard time sharing Joints ;)
SV: You love your hip-hop, what’s good?
Jules: hmmm Danny Brown, OF, Casey Veggies…hip hop is making a HUGE comeback.
SV: Have you always been confident with your body?
Jules: No.
SV: When I googled you, the term “model turned photographer” kept coming up they aren’t mutually exclusive are they?
Jules: Nope people will do their best to keep you in a box!
SV: Has there been a defining moment when you realized “I’m a professional photographer now”?
Jules: Nope not yet! :)
SV: If photography was a gateway drug, what would it lead to?
Jules: Directing.
SV: Do you ever just pull out your phone camera or do you always reach straight for the dslr?
Jules: Love my iPhone shots!
SV: If the doctor told you you were going to be permanently blind tomorrow and for the rest of your life, what would you point your lens at today?
Jules: I suppose it wouldn’t matter because I would never see the photos…But I would go for my nieces and nephew.
SV: Do you photoshop your photos after they’ve been taken?
Jules: Depends on the photo but yes I think that the editing is all a part of the process.
SV: How often do you get someone refusing to be photographed, and do they usually say why?
Jules: Sometimes Old Folks don’t like me taking their picture but generally people enjoy being photographed.
SV: Everyone has a camera on them now, be it a phone camera, compact digital or a serious rig, when does a ‘happy-snap’ become print worthy?
Jules: When you decide you want it on your wall every day…Should see my house!
SV: I know some photographers who are generally of a darker disposition and that comes across in their work, you seem to be on the other side of that spectrum, preferring to being bright and cheery.
Jules: Yeah I would like to think i capture the positive in people.
SV: Any desire to get into the studio and start orchestrating your own editorials?
Jules: Just wait and see!
SV: What do you hope to get out of the throughwhoselens “collective”?
Jules: I would love to have a pool of fellow creatives to work with.
SV: Who would contribute to throughwhose?
Jules: Anyone and everyone…Providing its good stuff!
SV: What with the disposable cameras you have circulating around?
Jules: This was a Milan Project I did because over the past few seasons more and more boys have been lugging around Dslrs.
I suppose by being the guy to give everyone a camera it cements me as the O.G camera man, but specifically the disposable camera project is for Models.com.
SV: In two years, what do you hope your throughwhose will look and feel like?
Jules: No expectations just want to let it grow and I think it will. All i am doing is planting the seed.
